Blame Game

Image
Pick your battered self up and lick your wounds Let the bereaved find tears to ease their grieve Let the burden of bearing corpse be grave's May means of living find solace in flames Let our broken souls pour out fractured words Let's trade blames if it will undo the guilt. Flame of many tongues burns on many fronts And lo, its scars, by far, outlive its burns

BED OF THORNS

Image
Humanity, are you feeling cozy and warm? Are you too blind to see the wild fire's spreading embrace? Does your myopia still say this as a race? Do you not see our beautiful gate way to harm? Beds brandished by broken bones and bottles Friends flee and fiends fan flames that form our fall

The Light After Dark

Nature's orchestra plays loud The two little winged guys grow into a crowd All seeking attention Each asking to go first That long night of apprehension Angels, demons, muse each with a huge thirst Darkness about, bright light bulbs inside Who'll be crushed when darkness and light collide Sun fades away, quieting the city Everything nosedives into clarity

Words That Became Kisses

Long tea aided chats Even longer late night calls The many burnt nights Then the preceding sleepy days. The hellos and heys The I miss yous The conversations that run out of words Then the reluctant goodnights The "Just-calling-to-check-on-yous" Done a few times A routine evolved The carefully thought out poems Bedeviled by grammatical flaws and typos Slowly words grew inept Then the quest to dive deeper depths The many hours of movie watching Still not knowing what is on Attention strayed from the movie To the electricity building from held hands Then late "walk-me-homes" The welcome prolonged goodnight hugs The heaving of our closely pressed chest This time the haunting goodnights. Words grew fewer Then the realization of her glossed lips; The little stars in her paralyzing eyes; Then a seed of her lips sown on mine The wishes that wishes were more than wishes . Words touched Words kissed They soon will solve the odd maths?

WINS AND LOSSES

A diamond-like family A detoxing crop of friends The sickening ones down the drain My lost rib Time sunk into nothingness A few lost unwritten thoughts The neglected spark of 'almost friends' A brother dangling on string like a puppet

Twist Of Fate

Crude and coarse cradle Unprepared for this dance Sweet ugly song of chance Pack of dark light Breakfasts in a hurry Dinners under moon light Future seemed out of sight Close scan couldn't find Green fields watered with sweat The harvest by new hands Few from the tillers bands Time's crowned coarse hands

A Loner's Vantage

Standing where only I have been Where thoughts bloom green Where brisk giant strides lead backwards And slow gentle strides firmly planted lead forward I am in this place where no one has ever been Where I seem the only real being seen Where my thoughts yell scoldingly in my head And my tongue is drained of saliva for the many deprived breads I am standing on this plain where no one has stood Where actions brew, both bad and good The same carpenter making caskets and beds Both with a cushion to lay wearied heads I am standing where I stand alone A vast space that is raped of a horizon As far out as I look I see only my own self Like staring into a mirror too large and heavy for a hook Admiring the wealth and vanity of my pelf. I am standing where I stand beside no one Enclosed in a cocoon-like cone With a reaped out tongue A grilling soul on a fork with one prong. I am standing where no one has stood Where new breeds are a-brood Where only dreams are real Wher

When Great Trees Fall

When great trees fall, rocks on distant hills shudder, lions hunker down in tall grasses, and even elephants lumber after safety. When great trees fall in forests, small things recoil into silence, their senses eroded beyond fear. When great souls die, the air around us becomes light, rare, sterile. We breathe, briefly. Our eyes, briefly, see with a hurtful clarity. Our memory, suddenly sharpened, examines, gnaws on kind words unsaid, promised walks never taken. Great souls die and our reality, bound to them, takes leave of us. Our souls, dependent upon their nurture, now shrink, wizened. Our minds, formed and informed by their radiance, fall away. We are not so much maddened as reduced to the unutterable ignorance of dark, cold caves. And when great souls die, after a period peace blooms, slowly and always irregularly. Spaces fill with a kind of soothing electric vibration. Our senses, restored, never to be the same, whisper to us. They e

The Child Inside

I met him Locked eyes with him He looked just like me With a familiar smile Except he had a skewed eyebrow Like a pastor will wry at an erring member I met him Looking dissatisfied with his now Like he slept with a fair weather forecast But woke up to a hurricane Looking less than he knows Fade up with his status quo Remorse glistening in his eyes Like a suicidal with a loop round his neck. I met him Staring at me Like a dreaded déjà vu Without blinking I met him Locked eyes with him Scolding my flaws Sarcastically applauding  my scores I have met him He is the mirrored reflection of this broken me

The Underdogs

Bent to standard of measurement The tall societal l adder Rated as ones for the basement Reaping pride off our shoulder What is the worth of an ant Fractured hearts and dented egos What would pregnant tomorrows bear? Reptiles or ripened fruits, who knows? Ladders break exposing nursed fear Making bottom the highest point. Tee2emm

New Year Resolution

This dusty shelf with unscored goals The archived resolution that lack resolution Was she just words on a paper? Or a do-as-everyone-does? The blank page of the year to come Craving for its own pregnancy Then twelve months will surf pass Only to look back into the months Wondering where the pregnancy fell off Will against doubts I still scribble Starting with the resolution then the resolutions A journey of a million miles doesn't start with a step It begins with the will to embark First I'll be me Then nurse me Then grow me Then quit my friendship with the ugly me Then strengthen my bond with the Beautiful me This year shall be all about me.

Delay

The sun is long due to rise But the clouds are proud today Bent on having its say Blinding the same route the sun plies When will's without way, will may wane One coat and layer at a time The sun patiently fried Paddling away from the rough clime Slowly the adamant clouds wried Darkened clouds can delay dawn

Twin Souls

I Am   A fragment    Of this life      Half yet full       Half in light        The other part         Crawls in the dark           All the déjà vus            And the touchés             Makes it very hard             To tell what the truth is.              A twin of two souls              Like a letter on opposite            Sides of a lengthy scroll           Meet they will         But hardly        Will they see.     Twin souls   Lost in Cold

False Hope

Seduce us out of wisdom into folly Then laugh till you ache Watching, aloof, as our essence break Elated like the sun dancing on a wavy stream, jolly. Blinded by your smokescreen We became jubilant like a peer-pressured teen In our sedateness, we went to sleep on a bed Only to reveille on a coal, hot and red. Goodbye days of fairy hope I have seen the length of your slim rope I know how you sting then rub I have savoured the risk of making a pet of a cub All the glitz has been but a farce And your honey constipating Offer your sham bridges but I'll pass Yes I know how they can be tempting. False hope is like a false alarm Only realized long after the harm.

Room Of Empty Heads

Night or day None can tell The pot still bellowing thick smoke Even silence is funny Laughter rang like a sick doorbell Many days had dawned and died Littered bottles, ash can attest Where is the need to dream? Everyday day goes by dreamy Eat, drink, smoke and its a good day Four foolish fun-fond friends Their sunset is easy to predict

Tree Of Life (Family)

Like                     An oak              Standing by the       Sea shore, her roots stay        Shallow yet she thrives    Unaware of the strive outside    Her zone and blind of what she        owns. She hates what she          has and envy the nothing           Others pray to escape.                We are family                    We love                      Hate                      Smile                      we cry                       Hurt                        Fall                       Grow                       Break                       Mend                The Markus's The whirlwind blew but our roots grew The wolfs hauled, we stood strong holding hands

Beggar's Choice

Rags Big bowl Awful song This road knew him So well it could count how much he had earn. His clothes changed and his heart sprouted contempt; His eyes, disdain; His smile, scorn; His songs, Pride. Coins Became Too heavy Thus, got turned down Refunded back into the cheerful palm.

Teacher's Hope

Both hands still dusty with chalk The students' countenances still heavy like pregnant clouds The many unasked questions Forming like a volcano threatening to erupt But there, Trum sat with a sparkle in his eyes Like a flashlight in the dark In those eyes, the future is pregnant with a moon

Berom Marital Ritual

*BEROM TRADITIONAL MARRIAGE.* *BY CHUNG DAVID DAVOU 2014.* *1.0 Introduction.* The Berom Traditional marriage is a very unique feast in Berom land. In the past, it was seen as a sacred rite where all details are observed keenly and carried out to the later. *1.1 Engagement.* Engagements in Berom land were done on behalf of the younger ones by their parents while they are still very tender. It was obligatory of parents who have a young male child to wait for another family to give birth to a female child to ask for her hand in marriage. They first of all study the other family to be sure they are of good character before seeking for their hand in marriage. It was a family vs family affair and not the two children. Other families usually do not seek for marriage from families associated with; theft, laziness, prostitution etc. To seal an engagement, the family of the male child would have to take either a chicken or goat to the family of the female child, depending on how buoya

Riot

The bowl of patience is filled up The brim spewing more than the belly of the collecting cup Causing the spillage of discontent and anger Dressing men, women and children in danger The wheels of disarray are starting to churn The sun will have a few backs and clothes to burn. When opinions collide a few homes will mourn On the queue of celebration it is Chaos's turn. When the table has defied the compass's direction to a new path When hearts choose cold over warmth Left is choosing between devil's offering All options with their own accompanying sting "Easy does it" they say "But sometimes crazy does it better"

THE DECAY

Image
"Deji! Please ensure that sitting room is set in time" mama's voice came from the kitchen accompanied by the taunting aromas from the kitchen, the type one only perceives when the moon is blue. "Yes ma!" Deji answered with tiredness in his voice. The whole house woke submerged in chores preparing a welcome party for Jide, who has been in London for 27yrs. It took, at least, 10yrs of mama's pestering for Jide to finally decide to come home. By 6:45pm all was set, food (kpomo, amala, ewedu, gbegiri etc) laid beautifully in wait on the table, King Sunny Ade's Fuji music filled the excited air of the house. Mama and Papa waited at home anxiously while Deji and his two sisters went to pick their big brother from the airport. The feasting, laughing, dancing, questioning and catching up went on and on till it was a few minutes to midnight, then everyone retired to his bedroom after the night prayer had been said. Once in his room, Jide pulled a plastic cha

Bit the quiet nights bye , ing of stars awaits Swine's feet with a ring, I must now awake Now set to swing and sway, find my heart beat A new wing, flip-flop, tick-tock time won't stop

THE END

Digging down the mine of the heart Cautiously, scoring on the chart Of this dynamism, what's our part? Living and dying are both art Where one ends another begins. Beginning, end, those are cousins Just in different skins The end is a door to a start. Tee2emm

DADDY'S GHOST

Her efforts to speak was met with another slap. "Shut up when I talking" his voice echoed. Another slap followed, this time the sound was louder. She was pleading for him to stop between her suppressed scream. "Are you still talking?" He barked like one of those hungry wild dogs. "Honey! Honey!!" Ruby started as Bobby's voice broke her trance. "You've been holding that fork midway between the table and your mouth, what's the matter? Is it uncle Jack? What did he say?" "Slow down" Rubby interrupted "it was a beautiful day, uncle Jack and his wife were sweet" she continued as she stretched her left hand and laid it caressingly on his . "Ruby honey, then what's the matter?" He enquired. "Just a recollection of a dreadful past but this evening is too beautiful, I wont ruin it with the detail, maybe another day but for tonight, I can't wait to be in your loving arms" she said with a

LOSES IN THE FIGHT FOR GOD

The sun had set like it has the passed many yesterdays, John's Mom was back at the same old window looking as far off, the grassy path leading to the house, as her eyes could afford. She sat resting her heavy head in one of her hands, obviously thoughts running marathon on her mind. The announcement on the radio sitting on the cane table feet away distracted her, it was a message signed by Alhaji Muktar announcing his missing son, Sani, since the morning of 17/9/2001. Tears crawled down her wearied face as she wondered "will I ever see John again?"

IS THE ESSENCE OF LIFE DEATH?

We come and we go The earth still revolves We are born and fated to grow A puzzle only the grave solves Boys grow into men Girls become women Treading a precarious line No one ever makes it to the other loop fine Birth and dead lie juxtapose Like opposite pages of a book The left opens the read, the right brings it to a close Born, we strive to survive but death is all we Brook The sun always dies So the moon may rise Life's but a beautifully designed craft. Learn, love and live for we are like to the wind mere shaft.

FAMILY

It was a wild movie set 7 posters on our rugged wall Captions coined, the soundtrack of our playlet Chally, the best character of us all No spice makes a meal tasty like home Ours was one beating with 10 hearts It was our own little feel of Rome We were a whole in different parts Despite our hurts, we loved Despite our grudges, we held hands An inch at a time we shoved Our aches into our hearts' quick sands Love was the block that fenced our home We were 10 hearts beating as one

Mr. Martin's Suicide

Suicide A lifeless body dangling from a string A slit wrist spewing crimson soul The short route into the unknown; Into the womb of the earth Making another casket pregnant The time poured into paving that old path The path to lost dream was starting to promise yield Though slowly but surely . Martin's faked smile and grin was so real Even his reddened eyes glittered from it Concealing the hurt, pain, and despair inside perfectly Did you end your pain and hurt to start mine? Should I string myself from that same window bars? Is suicide the remedy to hurt and pain? I might as well join you soon I bet Helen will joins us too Won't that make a beautiful chain? I'm stuck between blaming you and not blaming you. Mr Martin, Was it me? But I remember my heart kissing yours The shared times to procreate a dream Was it the dream? Was it too big a dream? It was easy It was still a foetus It was easy We could've aborted it It was easy It would've

Bot's Rang'al (poem type)

Bot's Rang'al is a poem type invented by Thomas Bot (Tee2emm). Bot's Rang'al is a 6 lines poem written in two stanzas; a quatrain and a couplet. The first stanza which has an Abba rhyme pattern are four lines of questions (rhetorical). Line 1 opens with a mention of who/what the questions are directed at. The closing couplet, alliterations with an ee rhyme pattern, is a summary of the reason for the questions in the first stanza or simply a statement/opinion. All lines of the the quatrain must have 12 syllables, while the closing couplet could have less but not more. Example: Death oh death why are you so mean; cruel? Do you have a heart or a mind that feel? Do you find pleasure in the pain you deal? From man-made tools is your best a shovel? Same sad sounds that sends souls sailing Where, why, we will wear wondering

MOTHER TONGUE

The Beautiful song that suns our quiet night The sweet string that connects our tongues to our hearts Lone lighted lamp that defines a people's might Crested on foreheads like perfect works of arts Lone lighted lamp that defines a people's might Is she the sole horse  that pulls so many carts All arrows aimed at her heart pierces our eyes The Beautiful song that suns our quiet night .

Morpheus On Vacation

I've dawdled to and fro this virtual room Insomnia still has more hours, my eyes, to groom Morpheus must be on vacation I found this pair of owls eyes in a chocolate jar I should've known better Morpheus most be on vacation I must be, here, alone Down, the dream-wander-land, everyone has gone. Morpheus must be on vacation. One more toss and one more turn Hoping my eyelids begin to, with sleep, burn Morpheus must return from this vacation.

What if

Image
WHAT IF What if I could write the world back to sanity? What if smiling faces is the cure for this ailing humanity? What if a helping is it will take to make the fallen stand? What if we will all return to the sand? What if we destroy less than we mend? What if the grave is our unavoidable end? What if? What? What if? Too many questions, not one answer What if love is all the beclouds our hearts? What if we learn to give just like learn other arts? What if the human race is a ladder? What if the earth had no man-made borders? What if we all lived like sisters and brothers? What if, against evil, we stand a little more bolder? What if? What if? What if? Too many questions, not one answer Too many questions, not one answer. (c) #Tee2emm #40DaysAnd40NightsOfPoetry

Vicissitudes of love

The crossroad split like a bi-pronged fork; Like a serpent's split tongue Our disagreement shone brighter than the midday's sun Bickering became our new way of having fun Swaying between joy and pain like words that fit a perfect pun It was plain, of this bi-pronged fork we cannot ply same I loathly took mine, you dawdled down yours like one without aim The clouds sowed many suns and many moons While we grew into remorseful swoons Before this mirror of reality, we stood, loony toons. Time casted it's bait We strolled into it again like ships strayed Pride's huge price we've paid. Is it time to forge ahead? Caution though where we tread Today most never swallow tomorrow again.

NATURE

The beam of life flashing from the east Glowing with grace as though to burn a beast Making ready for an elaborate feast The moon and his many wives Piercing through the night with tired rays;knives While wild orchestra filters through the land Grasses, shrubs and trees, planted by nature's dexterous hand With one last roar, water takes its suicidal dive The bush plays birds' chirps; frogs' croaks; bees' buzz from their hive Life is beautiful.

Life is beautiful.

OPEN LETTER TO HIS EXCELLENCY SIMON LALONG, THE EXECUTIVE GOVERNOR OF PLATEAU STATE ON THE GRAZING ROUTE AND RESERVE BILL

Image
OPEN LETTER TO HIS EXCELLENCY SIMON LALONG, THE EXECUTIVE GOVERNOR OF PLATEAU STATE. I, just like every well meaning indigene of our dear state (Plateau State) have followed, with care and attention, your position on the "Grazing Route and Reserve Bill" which your government have called other name(s), like Ranches. It is no longer news that you are soliciting acceptance and support for this bill on the home front in spite of the people's take on this same issue. To start with, the bill on the floor of the house clearly stipulates "The Grazing Route and Reserves Bill" but you on the other have been trying to convince the people of Plateau State that it is Ranches you are soliciting support for. In this view, I can't help but ask the following questions:- 1. Which of the two are you campaigning for, (a) The Grazing Route and Reserve Bill or (b) Ranches If it is not the Grazing Routes and Reserves Bill you have been seeking support for, there is no need

A MOTHER'S CLASS

I still haven't learned a thing The rod on my young behind The long late night sermons I still miss the arithmetics I still haven't learned a thing Marauding uncles, aunties and cousins Clawing from all angles I'm that scared child you left that cruel Sunday evening, the 25th of September. ~ Tee2 emm

Dressed To Fit In

The clock tick-tocks slow today. I have rehearsed and re-rehearsed what to say, Waiting for the time's alert to play. For short, she is Miss Bake, My name was no longer Tok but Blake. My T-shirts swapped for suits to fit into the fake. The clouds of size and judgement gathering over the Father's countenance In silence, my heart counting it's chaplet of penance. Apprehension, my worst nightmare may chance In spite doubts, the father had a rich warm handshake Miss Bake still seems a mix-take and mistake So I brace me to swim my precarious lake

MIXED FEELING

We left shore with hopes for new lands The journey has seen many a day and night Our solid grounds of hopes and dreams gives way to fear and despair. New lands still a drunk's dream while shore is long out of sight Eyes and necks going sore from being sprained and stretched Searching for some kind of hope, a glimpse of light Land at last But which is better, lands we found or lands we left The joy at take off seems to supersede the laughter at landing Home in our hearts seems to have been cleft But home still holds our hearts while our bodies wander this foreign lands We dared untangling but our hands are not so deft

LEAN ON ME

I see you like man sees the moon, stars, sun Gone even before they come I yearn to come close But the sight is best from afar. I could stay here and stare But perfume's essence is inside its jar. Your words hold my hand; Stimulate discharge from my poetic glands; Push the horizons so I'll expand Extra candles you burnt to stay up late To hold my thoughts through the narrow gate Staying an everglade We're running the same race Each at his own pace. Not a race to a prize But a race to a place. Winning's how many cross the finish lace. ~ Tee2emm

Goodnight

The clouds have cried on us Waking a good evening weather Now the heat bedeviling our days lay rust Our bed will smile to embrace us tonight Our pillows will sooth our path to dreamland Where our Utopia lay in wait. Fly on wings of beautiful sleep Let your blanket rock you like a baby in a cradle Let the clock ship the night to the morning side of the sea So you may wake with a yawn into the bliss of dawn Let angels captain the ship So shore will be a surety That your dreams may be tinged with grace Steered away from the course of cruel nightmares. Sleep like a toddler Sleep like a peer with angels Sleep sweet.

This wallet is worn and old But it's worth, my heart still holds Memories that will never grow cold A history waiting to be told Our kids will leave to know This first gift their mom, in my hands, bestowed I still remember like it was this morning En brèf, that's how I carry you with me We never part You are always fresh in my heart Love you always, Nerat

The Mortality Of Man

To this shallow life make no claim We are journeying whence we came Everything here's a grand charade Life and dead both the same hands made Wild ambitions are for the tame Set for the kill at precise aim All excuses are tagged lame Its a compulsory parade To this shallow life This life is a tragic brief game Yes we play it but it does maim Clouds of life and dead, we're a glade

God And Men

Kabooom The the world became It took time for the flower to fully bloom Everything has evolved, then and now are not the same Let there be, and there was Let's make man, one like us And the world began, thus God stayed God through it all But when the atheist quest for flesh collides with a wall Clarity befalls him, he sees the big bang theory's flaw Pride and self has led to a fall, in prayer both knees crawl The penance will last till the flesh finds it way back up.

The Incidental Outing

Glances and second stares But I was too engaged to even care Engaged meeting her for the first time After meeting her too many times Perfect familiar strangers Familiarity took form The pace of blood flow slowed down The I realized what she had won for us, All the eyes in terminus. It was the funky clothes she was wearing She knows how to combine weird into great. So time strolled pass us chit chatting Staring eyes doing their own rating Nice coincidental outing, we should do this again. ~ Tee2emm

TO THE ONE I WILL MARRY

Even the sun wanes at dusk Life in itself seems a hoax At some point day becomes night At some, night bows to sunlight Beauty sometimes transforms into plight Sometimes the same thing can be both wrong and right I will paint you with love into flamboyance No guarantees, but I will try to tame my annoyance This same mouth that sings beautifully of love Will someday slip and wreck the boat All of these sets us up for the test But my chest will always be your head rest I will take off my 'I'm only human' garment And love you till my skin wreaks your smell.

The Rehab

I love kissing her round lips Suckling her essence till the last drip I have kissed her in different shades and skin; Brown, white, even green. Her love is always one way; her way All my visits never gets a repay And the labour goes without a payday I'm not the only one she dates, all had same to say Of all the billions she has dated, she is still a virgin and a spinster. Oh, I am loving her and hating her. We have never been apart, today is the start. Hi, I am Tom and I am an alcoholic. ~ Tee2 emm

The Young Hawker In Aba

Image
Some of us were born grown While some of us got the chance to grow Thus into the sea of hustles of life we were fully thrown The dining table depended on how many times we went to and fro She knows the Aba streets and it's squalour To the tourist on her tray she is a trusted guide Her red purse praying the reason for her tour doesn't stay fallow So it's return home shall be swollen with pride Some have called it child labour But the family sees in her a favour It's smile depends on her sore soles Without her, the tale of Aba is like a bucket with holes. ~ Tee2 emm

Letter To My Unborn Child

Time seems to slip by too fast Even before it is fully present, it is already past I'm not sure I've sufficiently learnt how to love you But you are a dream I yearn to see come true. Though to the grave we file To a life of permanent exile You will be the reason I smile This epistle will not be the last With every baby sun I will love you anew I know the shadows life and strive cast I pray I've learned how to shield you from the way I grew For my love, don't be a-gast. We loved you even before there was an isle I will break the odds till I fit into the frame of a perfect Father's profile. ~Tee2emm

Distant Crush

Your poetry plugs my right string Most often I have had to pinch myself back to being Your words ensnares like a beautiful dream Cloud one to eight sewn without a seam Shimmering effects that defies focusing My lips read, leading my soul to a scream Ecstatic from this red wine made from words One more round of the surfing Clawing and clawing to catch the beam To, some how, tame my being from whirling So my body and my soul would stay a team My coarse hands may never hold you, so I'll keep holding your poems while hallucinating Watching you from afar like a star gleam From a string, then two, now you strum my fantasy chords . ~ Tee2emm

A Slave Wish

Whistling my way into them trenches Seduced by my wishful hunches Casually dawdling pass reality Pass peace, calm and clarity Everything under the sun had a start This wild dream owes it's to my heart Now we're bound, like the moon and stars, and cannot part This wish has too many branches All too precarious that I can't swing from any with certainty Each mirrors my fear of crutches I drove here in a barrow of curiosity Now I seek confession from too many churches Being here has made my being too filthy Now I stand in the rain of my own making that drenches . ~ Tee2emm

Let's Dance

Tap tap tap Morale is growing high Feel our souls clap This punch dispenses no pain, draw nigh? The waves are high and still rising Let's entangle in a dance and let our hearts sing. ~Tee2emm

ODE TO WOUNDED SOLDIERS

We burnt the nights in our sleep, While you watch the moon traipse to sleep as the vigil you keep. Your unattended wounds, the huge price paid, So the nation could sleep safe. For all the thank yous never said, I pray this ode is not too late. ~Tee2emm

ODE TO MOTHER'S PRAYERS

Always back on her blistered knees Her cares and worries dripping from her wearied lips Those her lips could not express Her rod met buttocks to transform a no to a yes Lighting lamps to lead through our lonely land Amen to  mother's prayers, now the items we hold with thankful hands

DREAMS IN A CASTLE

Your old rugged brick and stone walls still stand tall Time, rain, strong winds and storm have all had their try But you saw every odd and you survived all They consider your fortified walls with wry Your rusted lamp supplied illumination Tending that baby dream to maturation Pruning her feathers, wings, nursing her to fly Fly high to heights she will be the first to ply. The stars do envy that child you hold; Hero of legends to be told Scribbled on scrolls of live bones Into melodious songs; Myths' songs of the old Sang to make bold These young souls Of dream's Might. Tee2emm

MUSE

You've always had me at hello every time Turning my pen on, into a foreign bed No tiptoeing, eyes seeing don't worth a dime Round and round marathon, emotions turn red Turned high, now you play ping-pong with my passion My pen, pad, tears in pain of your desertion Wallowing in this dark place, seeking escape But I don't see the skyline, it's a vast scape My pen is caught pants down on a pad Trying to make bastard poem Trapped in your coined web of ruse B astard poems excused I feel so damn used Down this damp rue Entangled In this Muse Tee2emm

FEAR

Gone are the days when you only roamed our night We got used to nightmares and you lost your scare You have left our nights, new approach to the fight Adopting humans as tools in your warfare Boko Haram, Alqaeda that's a couple Your new device, people turned against people In this fear fare you seem to be thriving well The terror is what a mortal tongue can't tell Our human feeble hearts are shrunken Our castle of courage, broken Our faith, maimed to a token Our core has been shaken Our scars stay open There's no healing We are doomed Prisoned Here Tee2emm

SOFT KISSES

Lips of a rose tenderly whispers a kiss Making this Rock hardened by mean weather melt Dazed in fog of rare blissful moments as this Trying to decipher the engravings spelt Realizing that which has been so long amiss That Midas touch he has, never before, felt. Amidst the ash of the bliss of ignorance Clarity slapped him so hard in an instance Let dead leafs savour the Lips of dew Make them believe in life anew; Their old wish for death eschew. Erase all gloom and blue Passion be renewed Love's wine be brewed Make love bloom, Rose's lips Kiss

A PERFECT BIRTHDAY

A perfect birthday. All is set Ready to take off like a jet Cake, wine, and some good songs to play With its waves let your heart swing, sway Poetry we must now forget. For the hullabaloo we're prêt Today we'll treat you like a pet All we do today is just play A perfect birthday Leon may take you out, I get You'll end up in a mentor's net "Let me take you" Rudolph may say With poems he'll drive the whole day gay It looks like Tee is your safe bet. A perfect birthday~ Tee2emm

TOM THE INVENTOR

As a child, Tom always dreamt of inventing something, but before he figured every idea he had, he would find out someone had created that which he had been celebrating was going to be his invention. First Tom thought of creating a toy helicopter only to wake to a disappointment that another kid had designed a much better one than what he had created in his whirling mind. Again Tom had an epiphany of creating an audio book, obviously he hatted reading his school books. But unfortunately Tom woke to yet another disappointment after years of nursing that idea. Tom consoled himself that if it weren't for financial constrain at the time, he would've achieved that. Years went by as suns rose and slept, Tom grew from that wild child to a young man. The dream of being an inventor had become a childhood fantasy after he fell in love with poetry and music. He spent most of his spare time staring into his mind and scribbling stuffs only his friends read. His yearning to be read sailed h

DEATH DREAMS

Yeterdays were pregnant with today The ship set sail The tides rose, the fog and haze The stars got lost in the clouds The moon lost it's whereabouts Causing the course The today glowed like the sun But on arrival it was gone Was the vintage a naïve young child's? Because it was ere vividly defined A crown, throne and scepter all lay in wait Awaiting a destined King to coronate Time and the four elements synergized to propagate But I must have woken a bit too late I must have slept too long on this bed of paternal dictations Causing this stillbirth; abortion. The bed stayed intact but the room a total squalor Standing in the middle of the ashes in total awe This barren fields, the eternity it took to plough Where did it go wrong I slept to slip into this old dream But it was all an endless sea of emptiness. Now I'm standing on the slim strand of time, stranded Maybe, dreams where meant to stay alive at night Only to die with the first glimmer of morn

Africa

Mother Africa, you seem pale Your strong bones and fist have gone frail Your future is out of focus Made blurry by these days chaos; Constant turmoil from which you ail I see her clinging to life's tail Determined, to live and not fail To rewrite her, now, smeared status Mother Africa Dangling back and forth her life's scale Reflecting the wealth whence she hail Flawed leadership has brought her thus Her state, future, depends on us We must now seek, find her lost Grail Mother Africa. ~ Tee2emm.

INSOMNIA

Tossing and turning Counting the hours with the clock Nature's loud orchestra playing outside Where are you, Morpheus

DEAR DAUGHTER

I wish I could keep you from growing Thus, keep you from being hurt or heart broken But daddy is a mere mortal still striving to understand So grow up child and live, taste all of life's deals, just be wise as you choose.

This son of mine

It is a minefield, tread with care This lonely desert we must fare Seek, you will find what joy there is Beyond barren lands, hills and seas Persist till time's torch makes all bare Fall, but to rise, son, you must dare Opportunities are so rare Ça c'est la vie mon petit fils It is a minefield Guard your life for it has no spare Listen for silence's sound ablare Therein lies serenity; peace; The moments you must never miss Devoid of this life's crazy scare It is a minefield.

HAPPY BIRTHDAY BIG SIS

Image
On that day as this A few steps down the lane of memories An angel was crafted And into the Markus' was drafted Bringing a rare kind of glow Making the family's laughter grow Born wearing a crown of perfection All elements mixed in perfect proportion Tinged with brilliance from the stars Not one dent nor scar The whirlwinds of life threatened But the sands of time provided the cushion The sun and moon are aligned The end? A beautiful eclipse of a child This eclipse still reoccurs once every year Refreshing those memories so dear Hatching the egg of merriment and songs; The dance we've restrained all year long I awoke today and stumbled on this eclipse Forcing me to reflect back on every moment of bliss "Where is the cake? Let the music play" For today is the day we sing of the days expended And receive the cheque for those that lie ahead I pried into heavenly affairs And saw how your days will thus fare; "I saw joy and peace; Happin

RONDEAU

Rondeau, oh Rondeau, few in word It's like using mics with bad cord; Tell of the world in words too few This is certainly something new One syllable lands in discord When did words grow dear to afford The ghosts just made a new record The breeze of world war Z just blew Rondeau, oh Rondeau When the poem cops don't concord Good thing? They still provide a ford Tweak and tie or loosen your screw But off it all, my feathers grew To describe  Rondeau in one word Rondeau, oh Rondeau.

SWEET HOME

Laughter was the crown of each day Bitterness was always at bay Mama's frail shoulders, the pillar Our bridge over seas and rivers Her heart must be where beauty stays The sun did shine brighter our way But of course, mom's the price to pay She broke her back for her sons; daughters Laughter was the crown Chomo knew the right things to say And the boys knew when it's time for hay No one dared, on his chores, falter Soon Christmas was at the corner There's always a cost to defray Laughter was the crown

WHAT I CALL HOME

Jolly times, puppets on a string Greeting each young sun happily As we awaited our morning crumbs From last night's magic of our mom Each sundown, a made history We spent each day in a child's bliss The clay grew, the child trapped within Mom broke all odds, gave us a home; Jolly times. Coat of many shades, peak of beauty The chores and play spelt our duty Dawn ticks to bring our jewel home With hope and joy , her tracks we roamed To hug the home we've all day missed Jolly times

THE MELANCHOLIC NURSE

Looks lie too, this I've found true Scary clouds gather round  her look Her ghostly gown shone, her face grim Grim and stiff, needing a smile grease. The clouds grew the closer she drew Her eyes stooped, beheld me still blue Flicked her needle, I saw smile brew Like a hornet ready to sting Looks lie too. The sun's gone rounds, still, nothing new My nurse's frown had my heart to chew There seemed a blue moon about this She smiled handing my discharge bill Her face wore this glow, she turned new Looks lie too

This Song We Loved

This song we loved, this song I lost Thrown like dirt, buying will cost The moon, stars knows you played your part You gave your all, even your heart But I just preyed on you, the host In chaos you're the peace I sort In this sweet song, I'm the wrong chord Now the pain stings like a sharp dart This song we loved All lays covered in hurtful frost It was folly to let this song rust Now the sweet music stops and starts Steadily drifting off the charts In grave pain I defray the cost This song we loved.

I'm The Felodese

I'm the felodese who's slain Time to feel the pangs of its pain My folly brought night over day Making a beating heart decay I cry my tears concealed in the rain Our love was pregnant with good grain Clumsy hands and heart let it wane Now faced with price too dear to pay I'm the felodese I must hence find our groove again How do I mend a spine so sprained Solemnly, now I kneel to  pray As love bows dead, no harvest day We ploughed, it grew, there was no rain I'm the felodese.

I Am The Felodese

I am the felodese, I had it slain Time to endure it's pangs of pain The sorcery that brought darkness over day; That made a beating heart suddenly decay. I am crying my tears, but concealed in the rain Our love's green fields, pregnant with beautiful grain But the cold hands of laxity let it wane Now faced with such an unpayable price to pay I am the felodese We must find our groove again Oh what fruitless effort trying to mend a spine so badly sprained What then is there to say? This confused marriage of night and day. We ploughed, it grew plush then plumed but we left it in the cruel hands of the harsh weather of the plains Now our love bows piously wilted before the harvest's day I am the felodese

The Person Of Pain

I have seen pain and grieve They look like my mother in a casket lying still With cotton-stuffed nostrils As though to ensure she stayed dead I have smelt the smell of lost It smells like the new fragrance she wore The freshness of her smell in a loving hug was gone A familiar strange fragrance to us all We had to dispel same with that which we bought I have seen the cruel hands of death Clenched around my mother's neck till it stuffed her of breath With a steel-like grip, dragging her to earth Holding her hostage beneath Leaving memories of her to roam; to torment the bereaved. I have tasted from the bowls of pain Long as you gobble, your thirst stays the same I have eaten from the table of sorrow Much as you may eat, the hunger grows Even escape is capture It's pointless making any efforts. Pain of death is victory for the dead But for the bereaved, it's pain in real

Life Is My Birthright

Life is my birthright, A right I sail turbulent tides to keep; The snares of death, schemes of man and nature's tides. Life is my birthright, Like a king guards his kingdom, I guard it with pride. Death lurks, a nightmare, where life lays beautifully asleep. Life is my birthright, A right I sail turbulent tides to keep.

Missing An Old Friend

That log is starting to grow grasses The full moon has grown lonely That orchestra of crickets and frogs has gone rusty The abandoned evenings shrine of old friends

Untitled

The bells of dream land chimes loud Eyes heard the call The mind is far abroad Sailing uncertain waters Pass the dancing shadows on the wavy glass The bells of dream land chimes Louder than the call to matrimonial binds Quieter than a solemn mass. The bells of dream land chimes A chariot ready to gallop Pass the skyline and into the sky The sun and moon, both caught on a bed of never-say-no The bells of dream land have gone Weary bones be Tired eyes find solace in oblivion. And let the pregnant night bear what she will. The bells of dream land have chimed for the last.

The Empty Old Man

Smoking from his pot Eyes glued to the toddling sun Oh what squandered youth Death has been fair to his friend While he whirls this wilderness

The Media

Outsiders looking in The picture is perfect, it seems The hypnosis the media has made us believe We are hardly who we are We are who the media says we are

In Tune With Humanity.

A generation of the blind No, not blindness of the eyes But blindness of the mind If we cannot see beyond our eyelids How can we see the poor and deprived The voiceless, downtrodden and marginalised Or the gross abuse of human rights That the perpetrators seek to justify And the media does well to glorify Nothing is new on the news every time Watching has become a depressing exercise. A world of the deaf No, not deafness of the ears But deafness of the heart If we cannot hear beyond our ear....drums How can we hear about the rot of the earth The cry of that child everyone have deserted The ever loud war drum beat The glaring yearning of humanity that Is constantly well kept under the carpet Which crisis analyst always helps with a beautiful excerpts Buttressing governments' claim "there is no other way but that" A generation of the numb Not numbness of the 5 senses, no But the numbness of the soul If we cannot feel beyond the pain that is our own

The African Story

Once upon a time Africa the told untold story A revealed unrevealed mystery Africa she is Even when the obvious says it is her end She starts unfolding all over again All new and marvelling terrains Like, just when you think you have seen her You will find you have been staring at a mere picture Only the superficial is captured Detail is not part of a viewer's pleasure He was once young and strong Tall, fine and handsome Idolised in too many songs Both abroad and at home Before the dawn that he woke and found the usual morning fresh breath held something wrong The looming trouble to come Like the smell of rotten corps from far off Brought home by same air that brings birds chirps and scents of wild flowers. The sun hung lower And everything tasted sour There seemed an invincible weight on his shoulder His bravery began to falter His youthly strength left his bones His knees felt like a newly born's Then the anchor of the floating whale hit her sea shore

I Found My Own Planet

Sounds like I have found my own planet The whole day is graced with a sunset All wild plays a clarinet Even frogs don't croak A sweet harmony in a perfect symphony All trees bear irresistibly beautiful fruits A planet safe from all industrial fumes Away from human hate and brute Closer to cloud nine where all is beautiful I, certainly, have found me a planet nothing less than beautiful. I feel plugged into this planet Like Neil is connected to the matrix I feel connected to this planet Like a lion is connected to his tail That tail he wack with pride While strolling down with Royal strides I fear should the planet cease to exist What becomes of the me it has invented? The happy me The me that bask in a never ending sunset The me that smiles cheek to cheek What becomes of me should my found planet ceases to exist? So I set my planet preservation strategies. I keep her green green I prune her trees So they can grow new leafs I water her lawns constantly Eve
