DEAR LIBYA

In this day and age
Where the Sun shines even at night
We still walk as though we are in the dark

In this day and age
Where we can simultaneously see our face and the back of our heads
But we seem to have lost the sense of their difference

In this day and age
Where we can see tomorrow from yesterday
We are still burning the bridge that connects the two worlds

In this day and age
Where even the bones of our forcefully enslaved ancestor are liberated
We are still putting shackles on the feet of their seeds

In this day and age
Where we thought we have ran far enough from our past
Only to realise we are back where we were

Are we just running from our shadows?
Were we born for these chains and cages?
Has our yesterday crept into our today?

I used to think blindness was about sight
But the eyes of Libya have proved me wrong
