The Call To Humanity

Standing at this point where clouds collide
Perforated by the piercing rays of the sun
As they dawdle home;
Where the calm rivers of troubled humanity finds respire
In her shushing distant hum
No place else to go, so in small circles she runs

Far from home and close to nowhere
Hope is long lost and patience is starting to wear
Salvation is somewhere far out there
But we all are too frightened, no one will dare
Too cowardly to fight our fears
Too selfish and greedy to even care
So on the banks we stand and watch her drown in her own tears

On the brink of her fall
Reaching for something or someone to hold
But far as she stretched, she was still alone
Wondering how all suddenly went cold
Colder than ever imagined or ever told
“Something has certainly gone wrong
This was never the path to go”
If it was a prophecy, it did not end here; it went all the way home.

A mother-hen shields her chicks from the rain and hail
Underneath her comforting wings that never fails
Her chicks scarcely aware of her travail to keep them safe
But it won’t be long till her she-chicks become hens themselves
Grow into the full appreciation of what they took for granted
Humanity is our joy to share
And our garden to tend
Humanity is our yoke to bear
And our wounds to mend
And our bride to happily wed
It is time we all played our part
With humanity gone, what will be left of us?
