AFRICA

This is where it all began Where the first song was sung This is where the first bird flew And the first flower grew Like a spring, man's mouth opened And the first language was spoken - Sometimes, I am tempted to think it was mine But lets save that for another time - This is where Adam beheld the beauty and brilliant of Eve And everything she came with. And was instantly lost in a trance. This is where everything was spoken into existence Where everything was beautiful in the true sense of the word The same words from which  they were spun Imagine a garden Where everything is fine and perfect And nothing forgotten; Trees to feed from - Except the forbidden - Waterfalls, a heaven made shower with a still blue sky and birds hovering Everything made and placed correctly The nursery of humanity And everything there has ever been Africa Seasons came and went Eroding our pride and decency in the event Now she peeps in the mirror And flinch from the terror of...

Nigeria.

Her lands are green both on the surface and within, Down her valleys, even up her mountains and hills. Need I mention her virility? She is just fifty or fifty something But she already is mother to many So many that  we get lost in the counting But like a mother-hen, she is all sheltering Treating all her children with equality. She had sons in whom she prides Those who stood with her in strive, Those that nursed her to her first stride, The stride that brought her sovereign rights. Those that gave voice to her plight. She has many to feed Both her young and grown up kids She has raised many but non is weaned So that even in her old age she labours still Nigeria, my mother, I love you and I always will. http://a.allpoetry.com/poem/9967515-Nigeria-by-Mr._Tok

When you cannot make gold of columbite Please pardon these stream of senseless sentences    Why should I wear the baby a bib? When there is no food, not a bit Why should I plant and not water rose? And yet anticipate it grows Trust me prayers pay side by side practice    Why should I tell tales of times untold? When time –the teller- never told Why should I curse, condemn and crucify the crown? When the crown is another’s clown Please forgive me for my rhymes are full of follies    Haven’t these ills been told by many? Yet those a-thrones do not give a penny? Havent these been written in poetry plays? Played on the crown who laughs and pays Ah, the human heart is hardened    Will we ever change this attitude? And put an end to this servitude Would that not put an end to this penurious life? And make men o...
